Ah, tamales! One of my favorite parts of the Christmas holidays. I'm so glad I have Latino friends and relatives! In good years, I get both Costa Rican and Mexican style tamales. Yummmm!!!
Feliz Navidad!
Es verdad! They were los verdes y las rojas, with promises of more next week, and maybe posole too.
What's the difference between the Costa Rican and the Mexican?
Costa Rican tamales have lots of fruit along with the meat, and are wrapped in a potato-based shell instead of corn maza, and are cooked wrapped in banana leaves instead of corn husks. Very tropical!
Mmmm...muy deliciosos!
Si, very tropical! I'll have to ask what they are in Honduras!
